Democrats Call For New Stimulus Package
13 October 2008 - 12:34pm
October 13 - Over the weekend, Democrats called for a new stimulus package that would target state infrastructure projects. Democratic lawmakers estimated that the new stimulus would provide $150 billion for construction projects to state and local governments, roughly equaling the cost of the stimulus passed earlier in the year that gave checks directly to taxpayers. Reports over the weekend also noted that Democrats wanted to include provisions in the stimulus bill that would extend unemployment benefits and expand aid for food stamps. |
